What do scientists believe is in the diet of juvenile Pacific green sea turtles ?
Hatchlings and juvenile Pacific green sea turtles (ages 0-30 years) are omnivorous, so they eat anything they can get their beaks on, but often feed on algae, snails, and small ctenophores like jellyfish. Once they mature, green sea turtles become herbivorous and feed mainly on algae and sea grasses. Unfortunately, many sea turtles mistake marine trash for food and will become sick or die from ingesting things like floating plastic bags.
